Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang province. It is known as the southern terminus of the ancient Grand Canal waterway, originating in Beijing. Many popular poems were created to describe the beautiful West Lake since the ninth century. Around 975 C.E., many artists, poet, and musicians are already living in this beautiful city. Today, many people visit Hangzhou for its renowned historic relics such as West Lake, Lingyin Temple, Liuhe Pagoda (Six Harmonies Pagoda), Yellow Cave Park, Hupao Spring (Tiger Spring), Hiking Trail at Previous Stone Hill and others. However, there are hidden gems in Hangzhou that is free to visit.

1. Baoshi Mount, Bai Causeway – Recommended to go at night to avoid traffic. Stand on the baoshi mount and you can see the entire West Lake. You can also see the shadow of the entire city reflects on the water.

2. Grand Canal Hangzhou – The total length is 4.3 km. You will pass by 14 bridges along the way.

3. XiaoHe ZhiJie – It is only approximately 1 km. Many old houses, restaurant and hotels around. Recommend to walk into any noodle shop with a lot of customers. Order a bowl of noodle and take your lunch.

4. Maojiabu Village, Hangzhou – You don’t find many foreign tourists at Maojiabu Village during off peak season. A great place for an escape.
